There's even a very short story (in the novel) of an illusory "castle" that reads like a revision or interpretation of Kafka. <br /><br />I like book reviewing better. The deviations I noticed were few and I thought they were justified. As to the treatment of the woman, I think that this is arguable. Her passivity and acquiescence were a counterpoint to the man's (initial) self-centeredness and rebelliousness.
